In historical times humans exchanged scarce and thereby expensive goods as forms of payment.
New Money uses this as a base for a new form of money creation; why not use ink itself as a valuable and scarce good. Next to oil and perfume it is one of the most expensive liquids we know, and yet it is easy to trade through processing it.
Layering patterns of yellow (the cheapest ink), magenta and cyan (the most expensive ink) the value of money may increase..literally!
